Ludwigshafen am Rhein is located in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, in the westbank of the Rhine River, opposite Mannheim. With Mannheim, Heidelberg and the surrounding area, it forms the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region.

Deutsche Bahn offers cheap train connections from Frankfurt International Airport to Ludwigshafen (~ 45 minutes), Stuttgart Airport to Ludwigshafen (~ 1 hour) and Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport to Ludwigshafen (~ 1 1/2 - 2 hours).
